Argentina has a growing biofuels sector, which increasingly needs employees and executives that know the industry in detail in both theory and practice. The Chamber foresees a situation whereby there is a demand for specialized labor but a shortage of qualified candidates for those jobs.
The Chamber is addressing today that potential future bottleneck that could slow our industry’s growth by looking for ways to train workers and professionals on the nuances of the industry. Those working in this industry will need to know all aspects of the industry, how international grain and oils markets work, Argentine biofuels law, carbon credits and the Kyoto Protocols, logistics, regulations, etc. The education program we seek to develop will also help students develop their own vision of what the industry should look like.
The Education Committee has as its first goal to create a certification program entitled “Biofuels Technician” with a diploma from an American or European university. Members of this Committee will help develop the program’s curriculum, working with the foreign university and the relevant government sectors. The program will last approximately one year and will prepare the workers and executives that are the future of the industry.
