Exclusive Site Visit

Experience an exclusive site visit to the largest forest biomass power plant in Europe

Wien Energie's Simmering Plant
Tuesday Afternoon
 12th April 2011

Europe’s largest forest biomass power station was commissioned in Simmering on the 20th October 2006. The plant supplies 48,000 households in Vienna with electricity and 12,000 with district heating. Around 1.5% of the district’s annual energy needs is met by biomass power without having a negative impact on nearby forest areas. 144,000 fewer tonnes of carbon dioxide are produced each year compared to a conventional thermal power station.

Numbers for the visit are strictly limited.
